Working abroad can have both negative as postive impacts on OFWs and their families. After years of living overseas, many returning OFWs face various difficulties settling back in the Philippines. The situation in the Philippines can be quite different from when they left. Often it is hard to find employment. On the brighter side, OFWs gained valuable skills and experience whilst working abroad.
To facilitate the reintegration of OFWs, the government offers various services. OFWs returning to the Philippines permanently or who still desire to leave for overseas employment, distressed OFWs and families of returning OFWs and OFWs in distress may be eligible for the reintegration services offered by the Overseas Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO). These services include livelihood programs, loan assistance programs, training and education and entrepreneurship. For more information on government reintegration programs please visit the OWWA website or the NRCO website. Below you find the basic reintegration services of the government.
