CMA reminisces the past 15 years through new book

29 March 2019, Quezon City — Friends and partners of the Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA) came together to celebrate CMA’s newly published book which celebrates it’s 15 years of service. The book was published in partnership with the Ateneo Working Group on Migration and CCFD Terre Solidaire.

Among the book’s contributors are Ms. Ellene Sana (CMA Executive Director), Dr. Carmel Abao (Professor at Ateneo de Manila Univeristy and part of the Ateneo Working Group on Migration), Dr. Ma. Elissa Lao (Professor at Ateneo de Manila Univerisity and part of Ateneo Working Group on Migration) and Rhodora Abano (CMA Advocacy Officer). The book’s editor is Ms. Julie Javellana-Santos.

Ateneo De Manila University School of Social Sciences Dean Fernando Aldaba through his welcoming remarks reminded the attendees of the important role that civil society and non-government organizations play in development and nation-building. He commends the work that CMA has done through its 15 years and hopes that CMA continues fruitful partnership with Ateneo.

Dr. Marla Asis, Director of Scalabrini Migration Center and Mr. Noel Escuela, previous Chairperson of CMA’s Board Directors recollected CMA’s humble beginnings and how it has grown through the years. Ms. Chat Garcia, current Chairperson of the Board, poses the question of how CMA should adapt to emerging issues and concepts in labor migration.

The program closed with photo-op with the book’s contributors, editors and everyone that made the book possible. (See photo below.)
